Cetaphil® In the News

Every month, Cetaphil® receives mentions in the media from people and professionals, dermatologists and doctors who use or recommend the Cetaphil® line of cleansers and moisturizers. Here are some of the highlights:

March 2008

  • What worked for you as a teen isn’t necessarily the best routine for your skin today. In Good Housekeeping, dermatologist Mary Lupo, M.D. advises that the “over-washing [of mature skin] can remove the surface oils that keep it supple.” Lupo recommends that you “cleanse no more than twice a day.” If your skin is “sensitive or extra-dry, alternate with a mild product like Cetaphil® Daily Facial Cleanser.”

  • On a Today Show segment discussing the treatment of adult acne, Liz Vaccariello, Editor-in-Chief of Prevention magazine, says that “a lot of dermatologists recommend Cetaphil. Ideal for sensitive or dry skin, Cetaphil® Gentle Skin Cleanser is “non-medicated”.

  • The word is out—expensive doesn’t equal better when it comes to skin care! That’s why Real Simple magazine’s Suzanne Rust recommends Cetaphil® Daily Facial Moisturizer SPF 15 ($10.50 at drugstore.com), a “silky-smooth, fragrance-free” moisturizer that “provides gentle moisturization for all skin types.”

  • The author behind the Brown Girl Gumbo blog reveals for clear skin one word—Cetaphil! To help control her “very oily skin,” she washes with Cetaphil® Daily Facial Cleanser daily, because it is fragrance free and guys can use it, too! Plus, all the products are available at drugstores nationwide.

  • Stressed-out skin? “Don’t over-exfoliate,” warns Lisa Donofrio, M.D., in April’s Fitness. As an alternative to harsh chemicals, she recommends using a “creamy cleanser” like Cetaphil® Gentle Skin Cleanser on a “soft, terry washcloth to slough off dead skin cells.”

  • Looking for a cleanser with the “oomph… to take off a full face of makeup after a long day”? The Makeup Girl blog author pledges her allegiance to Cetaphil® Daily Facial Cleanser for Normal to Oily Skin, the one product that “offers skin-softening benefits… without stripping your skin.”

  • Seeking the ultimate skin care advice? Self magazine’s panel of 17 top dermatologists recommends that, when using a retinol product, you top it with a basic lotion, such as Cetaphil® lotion to lock in moisture.

  • According to Dr. Michelle Hill, “drugstore brands [of sunscreen] are just as good as high-end, pricier products!” In the March issue of Lipstick, Dr. Hill recommends Cetaphil® Daily Facial Moisturizer SPF 15 as “great sun protection that won’t clog your pores or cause acne.”

  • The beauty gurus at Justine magazine are making it easy to find the moisturizer that’s right for your skin type. They recommend Cetaphil® DailyAdvance™ Ultra Hydrating Lotion to “quench [the] thirsty complexions” of those with dry skin. How refreshing!

February 2008

  • When In Style recently talked beauty with actress Elizabeth Banks, the screen siren said she makes Cetaphil® Cleansers part of her hectic daily routine if her skin is “too dry from traveling.”

  • In the spring issue of Harper’s Bazaar, the mag’s beauty editor notes that the best way to “prevent breakouts without wreaking havoc on your face,” is to “alternate a mild cleanser such as Cetaphil with a pore-clearing salicyclic-acid-based one.”

  • Self says to “apply a basic lotion (no antiagers) like Cetaphil® DailyAdvance™ Ultra Hydrating Lotion, with ingredients that “lock in moisture, alleviating a tight feeling.”

  • In a fabulous February post on beauty blog “The Makeup Girl”, the “Drugstore Diva” gushed over new Cetaphil® DailyAdvance™ Ultra Hydrating Lotion, for its “great soufflé-like texture that absorbs instantly with moisture that stays with you.” Later, she confessed to feeling no guilt for using it on her body, “because it’s under 10 bucks!”

November 2007 - January 2008

  • In November, the “Face Candy” blog praised both Cetaphil® Gentle Skin Cleanser and Cetaphil® Moisturizing Cream—the first for its “mild, non-soap formula”; the second for its ability to “absorb into the skin very quickly.”

  • Woodbury magazine’s Winter Beauty roundup highlighted Cetaphil® Gentle Skin Cleanser as the “perfect daily cleanser for makeup removal” that, “unlike other cleansers, [it] won’t disturb the skin’s natural pH balance."

  • In Bazaar’s “Ultimate Guide to Perfect Skin,” dermatologist Fredric Brandt recommends a “soapless cleanser, like Cetaphil” for dry skin aggravated by harsh winter conditions.

  • The beauty and style blog “Hello Dollface” recently commended Cetaphil® Moisturizing Cream for its ability to “[make] skin soft with no sweet, cloying smell or greasy feel."

  • In December’s Men’s Journal, dermatologist Trephina Galloway recommends a cleanser that’s “mild and non-allergenic” for the winter months. The magazine’s pick? Cetaphil® Gentle Cleansing Bar, because it’s “seriously gentle—and free of fragrances and harsh detergents.”

  • Christine, the doctor behind the blog “15 Minute Beauty Fanatic,” reveals that she recommends Cetaphil® Moisturizing Cream to her patients (and uses it herself), and is also a fan of Cetaphil® Daily Facial Moisturizer SPF 15 (“light, easily applied and easily absorbed”) and Cetaphil® Gentle Skin Cleanser (“rinses [off] easily and causes no irritation”).

  • Drug Store News highlighted Cetaphil®’s redesigned packaging and “modern” website makeover, noting that one of the site’s new features, the “Skin Assessment Tool,” offers “custom skin e-ssessments and personal treatment plans.”

  • In its January 2008 issue, North Shore asked a handful of skin care experts to pick their favorite over-the-counter potions. Among the top picks? Cetaphil® Daily Facial Moisturizer SPF 15, because it’s an “inexpensive yet highly effective moisturizer that contains UVA and UVB protection to boot.”

  • Heart & Souls recent piece, “Preserve Your Sexy,” says that “soft and supple-looking skin is the key to a bare-worthy body.” To help achieve this, New York City dermatologist Fran E. Cook-Bolden, M.D. recommends slathering on Cetaphil® Moisturizing Cream.”

  • According to the February 2008 Better Homes and Gardens, the key to keeping the skin’s outermost barrier intact is to “swap out drying foaming cleansers for soap-free options such as Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser.”

  • In one recent, especially delectable “Daily Scoop” from fashion blog “StyleBakery,” the trend-setters took a time-out from their style obsession to shower Cetaphil®—one of their favorite skin care brands—with adoration: “Our winter skin has fallen for the new Cetaphil DailyAdvance Ultra Hydrating Lotion,” because it “feels great on our skin, is ultra-moisturizing and not greasy at all. And you can’t beat the price.”
