FAQs

The Cetaphil Vitamin C Serum is suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin. Its formulation is fragrance-free, non-comedogenic and hypoallergenic.

For optimal results, we recommend applying the serum daily as directed:

  1. Make sure to use Cetaphil Vitamin C Serum on clean skin. To get a clean canvas, we recommend using a gentle cleanser like the Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser.
  2. After cleansing, pat your skin dry with a towel. With the help of the provided dropper, apply pea-sized drops of the Cetaphil Vitamin C Serum on your face: approximately one drop on each cheek, nose, and two on the forehead. Adjust as needed.
  3. Gently massage the serum into your skin using a circular, upward motion. Let it absorb for a minute or two.
  4. Follow-up with a daily non-greasy moisturizer. For optimal results, supplement with the Cetaphil Hydrating Eye Gel-Cream for the sensitive skin under your eyes.

Wondering how often to use Cetaphil Vitamin C Serum? Cetaphil Vitamin C Serum is gentle enough to be used twice daily, even on the most sensitive skin.

Yes, you can use niacinamide and vitamin C together. They even complement each other - helping to visibly brighten skin, even out skin tone, and help smooth the look of fine lines and wrinkles.

Niacinamide is a form of vitamin B3 and offers multiple benefits for your skin, including:

  1. Helping to strengthen the natural skin barrier.
  2. Helping to reduce the visible signs of skin aging, such as uneven tone, dullness, and fine lines.
  3. Helping to improve the appearance of skin pores.
In tandem, niacinamide and vitamin C help to hydrate, brighten, and defend your skin against environmental stressors. Vitamin C helps combat skin stressors like surface-free radicals and form the foundation for your ideal anti-aging skincare routine. The Cetaphil Vitamin C Serum combines these ingredients in a dermatologically tested formula, gentle enough for sensitive skin. Read more about how niacinamide can help your skincare goals.

Retinol, a vitamin A derivative, has become an important part of skincare routines worldwide. It's known for supporting a variety of skincare goals. Both retinol and vitamin C are known to help improve the visible signs of skin aging.1 However, you might prefer using alternatives due to retinol’s potential to irritate skin, especially when exposed to the sun.

At Cetaphil, we do not use retinol in our skincare products. Instead, we incorporate ingredients like bakuchiol and purified peptides across various formulations, including our anti-aging range. Both help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. While bakuchiol also helps visibly brighten uneven skin tone, purified peptides play an important role in supporting the skin barrier function. Gentler than retinol, both ingredients can be used with vitamin C on sensitive skin. Still curious? Learn more about retinol and why we at Cetaphil prefer using alternatives for your skincare experience.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good The first think i noticed that was good was the packaging. I like glass packaging, I just think it looks better than plastic bottles. The dropper though is really good, you know how sometimes you can have a product tip over and you see in the bottom of your drawer it all spilled out? Yeah this will not do that. The dropper does not come out loosely in the bottle, it’s well packed in the bottle that you need a small little tug to get it out but it’s just enough suction that you know it’s not going to leak and spill anywhere. The vitamin c serum helps me with my fine lines and my unfortunate dark spots from acne and life.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Glowing, radiant, and brighter skin: incoming!!! It’s always tricky trying new skincare since it takes repetitive continued use to see visual results, however, I’m expecting to enjoy using this for the foreseeable future. Vitamin C products can sometimes be too harsh, smell funky or artificial, not absorb well, or pill up under other products…but this passed the test! Only thing to note is that the serum remains a little tacky and doesn’t sink in as much as the Ceramide Serum did but also it’s more typical for the actives in vitamin c products to be more glowy/heavy. Dropper works well and packaging is nice. Would be careful with a clear container and exposure to sunlight but for an affordable skincare product it’s a great serum option.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from BRIGHTENING I have never been one to have an extensive skin care routine due to not having acne or pimples. The only skin care I do is applying moisturize multiple times a day because my skin is super dry. I was excited to try this serum before my moisturizer to add extra hydration to my skin and face. I was super excited for the vitamin c serum to add brightness to my skin to give me that summer glow! This serum apply’s very nicely on my skin and doesn’t leave my skin feeling sticky or slimy like some serums do. Once I let the serum dry, I apply seraphic daily moisturizer on top to lock in the serum. I highly recommend for the ladies that don’t love extensive skin care routines but want to add a little extra!
